In everyday life we perform five daily prayers,
sometimes our prayers and sometimes we also pray alone. As we know that the
prayers have a greater reward, and there are many lessons that we can get.
Abu Mas'ud ra, Companions of the Prophet, tell a
story. Once, when going to prayers, the Prophet touched each of our shoulders
as he said: "Straighten your shaf, not twisted. Shaf crooked heart will
cause disunity." (Muslim).
Hadith contains the very meaning we should ponder.
Apparently there is a close relationship between the states of Muslims rows
when praying in congregation with the state of their hearts. In fact, the heart
is what determines a sense of brotherhood, unity, and unity.
Even the Koran states when the heart-broken divorce,
although there appears to be outside the union, it was just a false unity.
"You think they were united, though their divorce
apart," the word of Allah swt in surah Al-Hashr: 14.
But, among so many discussions about the unity of
Muslims today, hardly ever we find the review or analysis that connected with
the row or prayer.
In fact, if the imperfection of rows to pray alone can
cause the hearts of Muslims divided, would have greater impact if the
congregational prayers themselves are not upheld by Muslims.
From history we know that the Prophet since the
obligatory prayers five times commanded, he always done in congregation. Even
in a precarious situation though, such as war, the crowd remained salad
enforced. For that, he has taught procedure. Congregational prayers are also maintained
by friends after his death.
How Muslims now, especially us, Muslims in Indonesia
is the largest number compared to other countries? Answer these questions we
can see in the mosques every prayer time. Mosque filled with worshipers only
when the Friday prayer, prayer tarwih, and Eid prayers. When we doing five
daily prayers, the mosque which is usually filled with only two or three rows.
Maybe it should say prayer alone is valid. The
difference between the congregational prayers and the prayers only on merit
alone it is true according to fiqh. But, prayer is not only a mere fiqh
matters. The proof, the Prophet himself was connecting rows with social
problems.
As a result, when we are often concerned that easily
broken up and pitted against sheep one of the source is probably our own in the
mosque exactly, when we no longer enforce to the congregational prayers as
exemplified by the Prophet.
But, for that we still have an excuse. Demands of
modern working hours should make us busy. The answer to this argument is a
question: Is there something beyond the bustle and urgency of war? In fact, at
that time, the Prophet remained congregational prayers?
